Our favourite legend is Robin Hood and his constant forays with the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham. Talk a walk in nearby Sherwood Forest and imagine the twang of the arrow and the call of the hunting horn.
From its commanding position overlooking the city, Nottingham Castle was the scene of the legendary final showdown between the Sheriff and Robin Hood. Built by William the Conqueror and rebuilt in the 17th century as a ducal mansion, the castle is now a museum and art gallery.
