Goose Fair
The earliest record of Nottingham’s Goose Fair dates back to 1541, but many believe that the Fair may have existed for years before this as it is also linked to The Charter of King Edward I in 1284. Although its origins are unclear, Goose Fair is one of the biggest celebrations in the city’s calendar. Held at the Forest Recreation Ground, the five-day fair includes the most daring rides for visiting thrill seekers, and a variety of family-friendly rides too. It is one of Europe’s largest travelling fairs where you can expect a rich variety of fun-filled activities, as well as traditional foods such as mushy peas and mint sauce, candy floss and brandy snaps. The fair is held in early October, and is a must for anyone visiting Nottingham at that time of year.
